installing the new side mirrors and the moonvisor
In 2007 we cannibalised a G20 over the easter weekend. I got hold of 2 chief-seats, a moonvisor and 2 big side mirrors.
I finished the seats during 2010, today the mirrors and the moonvisor should be installed.
side mirrors
The original side mirrors were not special enough for me. And too small too. The passenger mirror was not even convex, I saw nothing.
The new "truck" mirrors consist of 2 parts:
- The upper mirror is quite high, so I can see the whole height of the van from the road to the roof.
- The bottom mirror is convex, there hardly can be a blind spot.
You can call me a wimp now because of the increased security. But hey, I did this not for other road users, but for the van!
The new mirrors have the same base plate on the door as the old ones, so nothing needed to be adjusted. Only two new holes in the top of the door frame were required.
Moonvisor
Visor, sunvisor, spoiler and whatever they name it. Somewhere I read that in contrast to sunvisors, moonvisors have position lights. And lights are always good...
At the end of November the moonvisor was primed and finished in body color at the company Sahli Karosserie in Zurich.
A total of 8 holes for mounting on the roof were necessary. We have also used Tubtaras. Later I will use a ninth hole for the cable for the lights.
