Project: Chevy Van G30

Leaking seals, cup holders, hanging pockets and flags

Flooding during heavy rain

Last Saturday during a downpour the van had a water intrusion at the top of the two front doors and the sliding door.

When driving I did not have such problems. Well, I generally have avoided driving in the rain (because then everything must be cleaned again), but in the spring of 2007, the Van was several hours in heavy rain. Without problems. And now suddenly flood!

In the hardware store I found dark brown, self-adhesive profiles. I glued it directly to the body. It now presses rubber on rubber. The pressure seems to be high enough now, when testing with water, nothing came to the inside.

Sealing right hinged window and armrests

When washing the van a month ago, a little bit water intruded at the right hinged window. Not much, but I never changed the seals on this side and now the time has come.!

I also started to edit the four panels of wood armrests. First sanding the old paint, then my grandfather painted them. For the winter break it is planned, to glue in an engraved metal plate with Chevy Van text or Chevy logo.

cup holders

I got those cup holders from my boss. They were never used for the football table in our companys kitchen. I'm really happy that I have those shiny ones and not the  ugly plastic ones from the camping store...

Hanging pockets and flags

Now this was a cheap solution to fill up the gaps from the old windows. We just mounted flags from the countries we are going to visit this year...

To get more luggagge space I bought two hanging pockets. Fortunately, the distance between the mounting holes matches exactly the screws from the window cover!
