various work during sommer

In the last 3 months we finished a lot of stuff but only in small steps. Additionaly we were on vacation during August. That's why there was no update in the last months, but I've got some pictures for you.

installing the stereo

Well, installing is a bit overstated. We made the brackets fit. The stereo now fits into the dashboard and.

cut and lay the carpet

The cutting and glueing of the the carpet was as painful as i thought...

Fortunately we ordered a little bit too much. It just happens too fast that a cut is wrong or glue at the wrong place...

Christina stitched the edges of the carpet, so that it has a clean border.

Some parts are glued to the floor, some will be loose and just hold by the seats and carpet eyelets.

glueing the seal from the back door

More painful then the carpet was the glueing of the seal for the bak door. I mentioned this enough I guess. This foam rubber was the only seal that fits, and it looked also really the same like the original. I still believe that this back door is custom made by the pre-owner of the Van: the Canton Police of Zurich. That's why nobody else knew this kind of door, not even in the States. That's also why the old seal was a deductive tinkering. And the new one seems to go the same way...

However, it's glued now, and it sustains there. IF it really seals is another question, maybe I should test that bevore going to the Nordkapp.

first drive in 2009!

Unbelievable, but we really went for a ride.

It is really hard if you can't take out your custom for a ride on a sunny Sunday morning and all the others are cruising around with their Chargers, Caddis and Hotrods.

So that we can work on the Van AND drive it afterwards we prepared the carpets so that we can install them as soon as the new seats arrive. In the meantime we just use the old seats.
