Project: Chevy Van G30

break calipers and swimmingpool

Today I picked up the van from the garage. The defective brake calipers have been replaced.

At the same time (and unwittingly) the Van became subjected to a water leak test: he stood in the rain for one night.

And this is where the swimmingpool is showing up: When I sat behind the wheel and slammed the door, it splashed. No, no, not a few drops. I'm talking about gallons!

Then the garage men told me: The seals on both side of the windows in the doors are never 100% waterproof. Therefore, the doors have bottom holes on the outside of the seals, so that the water can flow outside.

On the passenger side the holes existed, but the driver door was sealed completely. Half the doorway filled with water. So we drilled the holes again, the water flowed out, all well dried up, and then we mounted the missing foil glue into the door frame.

Folie Türdichtung Fenster 1
It should look like this one.
Folie Türdichtung Fenster 2
The driver door is now unprotected
Malerfolie
This painters film was too thick, I took cheap plastic wrap from the kitchen as a substitute ;)
Folie Türdichtung Fenster 3
The film has to withstand only the water run down, so this should be ok.
